Katie Rodriguez selected next city manager of Richfield
Katie Rodriguez has been selected to replace retiring Richfield city manager Steve Devich by the Richfield City Council.
“The City of Richfield is enjoying a renaissance and is well positioned to benefit from expected demographic, investment and cultural trends,” explained Katie Rodriguez. “I am excited to work together with the city council, staff and residents to ensure Richfield is a place everyone can thrive.”
Rodriguez comes to Richfield from the Metropolitan Council where she served as a councilmember for District 1. She is also the chair of the Metropolitan Council’s Transportation Committee, as well as a member of the Transportation Advisory Board.
Previously, she has been the business manager for the Minnesota League of Women Voters and the finance director for the Village of North Aurora, Illinois.
The Richfield City Council selected four finalists to interview for the soon to be vacant city manager position from an original candidate pool of 33. The four finalists went through a two-day interview process that included conversations with city council members, staff and residents.
“Ms. Rodriguez will bring a diversity of experience and leadership skills that will serve the City of Richfield well,” said Mayor Pat Elliott. “Her vision for Richfield’s future and commitment to building an inclusive community makes her a great fit for the position.”
The city council will vote to approve Rodriguez’s employment contract at their December 11 meeting.
She is scheduled to assume the responsibilities as Richfield city manager on January 2, 2019.
