Richfield Sidewalk Poetry Project

Post Date:01/02/2019

The Arts Commission wants your poems for Richfield’s sidewalks! Writers of all ages, professional or amateur, are invited to submit original works of poetry to be considered for Phase II of the Richfield Sidewalk Poetry Project. The Richfield Arts Commission will select up to 20 poems to be sandblasted into the sidewalks along East 66th Street (between Portland and Cedar Avenues), as the road undergoes improvement work in 2019. A similar project was completed along Portland Avenue in 2015. Poems must be original works and will be chosen within a youth category (17 and under) and an adult category (18+). The Arts Commission encourages the exploration of a “Families Flourishing” theme, promoting a sense of pride through vibrant, imaginative, innovative art that engages people. Poems of any language may be submitted, however, the concrete stencils are limited and may prevent some languages from reproducing accurately. Poems must be a maximum of 10 lines, 40 characters per line (including spaces). Poems may be submitted in any language. The deadline to submit poetry is February 14, 3:00 pm. Selected poems will be announced by April 22. For more information, and to submit your poem, visit
