Prevent your water pipes from freezing
If a resident discovers they do not have running water. More than likely it is a frozen pipe.
Typically, these pipes are located in the basement or along an outside wall.
Keep a door open in these areas to allow some heat to reach your water meter and pipes. This is most important at night when no water is being used.
If you can locate the frozen pipe, use a space heater or hair dryer to warm the pipe.
Tips to prevent frozen pipes:
- Insulate to prevent cold air from seeping in near water pipes
- Keep the well room area, as warm as the rest of the basement by leaving the door open
