State of Minnesota Food Code changes
The State of Minnesota Food Code was recently updated after 20 years with implementation taking place on January 1, 2019.
Local jurisdictions are required to adopt changes by March 2019.
A sampling of changes include updates to definitions and terminology, food handling practices, health and hygiene standards, and equipment certification. Adoption of the amendments to the Food Code will ensure the City of Richfield can continue to protect the health, safety and general welfare of the public pursuant to the powers granted under Minnesota Statutes, Chapter 145A.
Richfield will hold a second reading of the ordinance on Tuesday, February 26 at 7 p.m. at the Richfield Municipal Center.
