New mayor, Maria Regan Gonzalez, talks about the future of Richfield on the city's podcast
Maria Regan Gonzalez was sworn in as Richfield's newest mayor on January 8, 2019.
Since originally being elected to the city council, she has helped pass ordinances aimed at protecting youth from tobacco products, expanded affordable housing options, authorized reconstruction of some of Richfield’s busiest roads, and ushered in a redevelopment boom of more than $200 million.
Upon taking office, Regan Gonzalez became Minnesota’s and Richfield’s first Latina mayor, but she credits strong female trailblazers such as the current Ward 2 councilmember Edwina Garcia and many others as leading the way
Over the course of the previous two episodes of the That's Rich(field) Podcast, the new mayor discusses Richfield's future, her background and the importance of an inclusive community.
