Activities for pre-school kids through Richfield Recreation

Richfield Recreation presents a bunch of great programs for pre-school-aged kids.  We're offering something for kids as young as 18 months, up to five years.

Kidcreate Studio’s award-winning art classes allow kids to explore art and create masterpieces while learning art concepts and experimenting with different art materials. Curriculum is age-appropriate and designed to inspire. Adult must  attend with child (register child only,ages 18 mo-6 years w/adult)

Nemo’s World
Friday, June 14, 9:30-10:30 am, $16

Registration Deadline: June 10
Create an underwater world that your little guppy is excited to explore. A few fish friends from Finding Nemo appear in this underwater project that even glows in the dark. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Min 7–Max 10

Rainbow Fish
Friday, July 12, 9:30-10:30 am, $16

Registration Deadline: July 8

The wonderful children’s book Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister will be our inspiration as we create masterpieces inspired by the story – glittery scales and all! Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Min 7–Max 10

Old McDonald Had a Farm
Friday, August 9, 9:30-10:30 am, $16

Combine your child’s love of art and music in this fun-filled class. Sing along as we create an adorable barnyard scene inspired by one of your child’s favorite songs, Old McDonald Had a Farm. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Min 7–Max 10

Mad Science preschool workshops are unique hands-on, minds-on learning experiences for preschool-age children. Interactive and age-appropriate, each workshop introduces children to a basic science topic. Adult must attend with child (register child only, ages 3½-5 w/adult)

Human Body
Friday, June 28, 10:30-11:15 am, $20

Have fun assembling the Mr. Bones puzzle. Take part in fun, hands-on activities that help children learn about  internal organs. Listen to your heart with a stethoscope and take home an organ outfit. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Min 7–Max 15

Mad Mixtures
Friday, July 26, 10:30-11:15 am, $20

Learn that chemistry is a type of science that is all about mixing things together and observing cool reactions. Experiment by mixing a mini explosion, floating colors and mix your own mad science color gel to take home. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Min 7–Max 15

Space Frontier
Friday, August 16 10:30-11:15 am, $20
Richfield Community Center
Registration Deadline: August 9
We will take an imaginary space trip to learn about constellations, planets, moons and the sun. Pretend to be an astronaut and collect moon rocks. Return to planet earth with your own foam squeeze rocket. Children must be accompanied by a caregiver. Min 7–Max 15

AMAZING ATHLETES 

Amazing Athletes Tots (Ages 18 mo-2 yrs)
Get moving with Amazing Athletes Tots! This discovery-based program is designed to get your toddler moving. Enjoy physical challenges and organized exploration activities that increase major motor development. Explore and learn five sports with your child: football, volleyball, soccer, basketball and track and field. Each 30-minute class encompasses a developmental sport, muscle  identification and nutrition lessons, using fun activities that highlight motor-development skill building. Parents must be present during class.
Maximum of 8 students.

Amazing Athletes (Ages 3-5)
Let’s get active while learning new sports and skills! Develop your child’s motor skills, hand-eye coordination, cardiovascular fitness and more through Amazing Athletes. In this course we will cover 10 sports: baseball, volleyball, lacrosse, football, basketball, soccer, golf, hockey, tennis and track and field. Each 45-minute class encompasses two different developmental sports, muscle  identification and nutrition lessons, using fun activities so they can build their  skills, at their own pace, in a non-competitive atmosphere.
Maximum of 12 students.
