City council considers snow emergency pilot program

Next week, the city council will be considering a pilot program that would adjust how the Public Works Department addresses winter weather events, specifically significant snowfalls. On September 14, the council will hear a first reading for the proposed ordinance change that would raise the snow emergency threshold from two inches to four inches. A second reading and vote on the change is scheduled for September 28. The goal of this pilot program is to reduce the burden on residents during snow events. Overall, residents can anticipate the same level of service despite the proposed ordinance change. Residents interested in learning more about the pilot program can contact Public Works Department operations superintendent Chris Link by emailing clink@richfieldmn.gov or calling 612-861-9174.
